Job Title: Energy Technician
Reporting To: Energy Manager
Overall Purpose of Job:
Energy technician to undertake a variety of energy management functions in meeting GSKs needs to reduce utility consumption with corresponding carbon emissions whilst providing improved operational efficiency.
the successful candidate will have responsibility to ensure that EMCOR manage the business requirements including distribution, demand, use and consumption of utility services to ensure optimal efficiency and performance with respect to utilities consumption, carbon emissions and expenditure.
Principle account abilities
. Provide Gsk with best practice and improvement guidelines
. Track the energy initiative and respond to any technical issues
. Provide estimated energy savings together with implementation and payback periods
. Provide energy/carbon calculations and analysis reports for submittable to the energy manager
. Escalation and ownership of abnormal operational conditions/data
. gather data and undertake calculations from which to identify excessive use of energy use
. Identify energy saving initiatives through contact with GSK engineering and other stakeholders
. Develop and advise on energy strategy solutions, developing these into working projects which meet client objectives and best practice
. Promote successes of energy reductions through various communications
. Measuring effect of completed energy initiatives from which to deduce benchmarking data and KPIs
. Promote energy efficiency and provide advice and support for the development of energy efficient practices.
Qualifications & Experience
. An appropriate qualification in building Services engineering with an energy related bias
. Competency in engineering calculations, conversions factors and statistical analysis.
. Knowledge of building regulations, energy performance of buildings directive (EPBD) and renewable obligation.
. Thorough understanding of HVAC air and water hydraulic systems
. Extensive working knowledge of BMS systems and related control theory
. Ability to meet deadlines and manage a challenging and diverse workload.
. Self- Motivated and enthusiastic with committed interest in energy and low carbon issues.
